My name is Tobias Hedberg. I hold a Phd in immunology from the University of Gothenburg and my work on dendritic cells and their response to adjuvants. Following my Phd I stayed at the University of Gothenburg for a postdoc position in Jan Holmgren's group working on a new adjuvant for an upgraded version of the cholera vaccine. After my postdoc I spent some time in a large pharmaceutical company before finding my way to VERIGRAFT. I have been employed there since early 2017 and my role in the company lies mainly within R&D/production.

Dr. Rümenapp is based in Wuppertal, Germany and working within the Bayer Pharma Product Supply organization, where he is leading CMC development and partnering projects for biotech products, e.g., proteins, antibodies or antibody-drug-conjugates, including the transfer to external manufacturing partners, as well as strategic projects. Prior to that, Dr. Rümenapp worked in Bayer Biologics Development and was Head of Projects in Biotech Contract Manufacturing, where he was responsible for contract manufacturing partnerships to ensure market supply. Before it was acquired by Bayer, Dr. Rümenapp hold a similar position at Schering AG, and he started his career in the Production & Logistics department of Schering, being responsible for production aspects of licensing deals, due diligences, and product acquisitions of small molecule products and biologics. Dr. Rümenapp studied chemistry and holds a Ph.D. in biosciences. He worked several years in academic biosciences research and as an assistant teacher in general pharmacology

Wolfgang Paul, currently the Head of Mid- and Late-Stage Process Sciences within Biotech Sciences at UCB Pharma, specializes in upstream and downstream process development with the UCB microbial and cell culture manufacturing platforms and is leading process science teams in Belgium and the UK. Prior to UCB, he led digitalization and data science projects at Roche in Penzberg, Germany. His earlier roles include Group Leader and Pilot Plant Manager for cell culture research at Roche, and Head of Cell Culture Research Pilot Plant at Sanofi-Aventis in Frankfurt, Germany. Wolfgang started his career with a Diploma in Biology from RWTH Aachen, and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Research Center Juelich, Germany. His career is marked by continuous growth and significant contributions to the field of biology and bioprocess development. His leadership and technical expertise have been instrumental in several global portfolio development projects.

Dr. Baerbel Grossmann studied Biology at the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany, followed by 4 years of post doc position as a head of laboratory in the Institute of Human Genetics in Mainz with emphasis on reproductive genetics, polar body diagnosis, and chromosome evolution. Baerbel joined Sanofi in 2006 as QA for Toxicology and changed to Regulatory CMC in 2011 in different positions. The focus of her work as associate director GRA CMC & Devices is to develop and coordinate strategies for the worldwide submission of variations for Biologics (life cycle management) in collaboration with internal and external partners and to provide support to ensure regulatory compliance. She is also responsible for Regulatory CMC in development projects for Biologics.

Hanna P. Lesch is a Chief Technology Officer at Exothera, Belgium. Her main responsibilities are technology development and innovation in bioproduction platforms. Hanna has made her whole career in the gene therapy field. Over the years she has been in several directors positions leading research and development at FKD Therapies, Finvector, and Kuopio Center for Gene and Cell Therapy. Her research interest has focused on gene therapy and translational development, including early-stage analytics and the development of scalable, robust manufacturing processes operating under current regulatory guidelines. Her PhD was in Molecular Medicine, obtained from the University of Kuopio. She followed up her Ph.D. with post-doc work at the University of California San Diego UCSD, CA, the USA, and the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland. She has several patents related to vector manufacturing.

Marija Brgles completed her Chemistry degree and Biochemistry PhD at the University of Zagreb in Croatia. Over a span of 16 years, she conducted extensive research on a wide variety of subjects, with a particular emphasis on liposomes, proteins, viruses, and other biomacromolecules. Her work involved their purification, analytical method development, biochemical and biophysical characterization, and the study of their in vitro and in vivo activity. In 2020, she made a professional transition and started working at Boehringer Ingelheim, where she is currently involved in the early stage process development of oncolytic viruses.

About the event
Bioprocessing is the development and manufacturing pipeline by which therapeutic agents such as engineered recombinant proteins, viral gene therapy vectors and other nanoparticle-based technologies are produced at levels required for commercial distribution. To achieve this end, large-scale cultures using engineered cell lines are grown in bioreactors or through other scalable approaches. These are constantly being refined and evolved to increase volume, product yield and efficiency. The adoption of next generation bioprocessing is reaching a decisive moment as biopharmaceutical companies are seeking new manufacturing methods that are essential to the industry's continued growth and innovation. It is more important than ever for the bioprocessing community to connect with one another, share ideas and strategise. Our event will offer unique insights through intensive research with key industry figures, combined with presentations and panel discussions to bring in-depth and informative content.
Today’s bioprocessing is the base of different emerging industries and technologies, including the production of therapeutic stem cells, gene therapy vectors, and new vaccines.
