Outlook for European Biodiesel and Renewable Diesel markets

The market for European biodiesel is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of more than 3% from 2020 to 2025. Factors such as concerns about the environment, peak oil, energy security, fuel diversity, and sustainability, and there is also a lot of interest in renewable sources throughout Europe, are likely to drive the biodiesel market in the region.

Biodiesel is a biodegradable, renewable fuel that is manufactured domestically from vegetable oil or animal fat. Biodiesel is a clean-burning and renewable fuel that is widely used in a variety of sectors, including the automotive, maritime, mining, and railroad industries. Biodiesel is produced using a variety of techniques, including conventional batch processes, ultrasonic methods, and microwave methods. Standard diesel engines use biodiesel made from non-mineral sources like animal fat.

The need for biodiesel is being driven by the requirement to incorporate renewable energy sources. Biodiesel is expected to grow in popularity as a replacement for conventional fossil fuels in automotive applications.

Biodiesel is non-toxic as It is free of aromatics and sulphur compounds.  It can be utilised in the majority of diesel engines and emits fewer greenhouse gases and air pollutants, as well as less toxic carbon-based emissions. The market for biodiesel is being driven by rising concern over greenhouse gas emissions caused by the usage of fossil fuels. When compared to petroleum diesel, biodiesel emits up to 50% less greenhouse gas, and it also contains less harmful and carcinogenic aromatic carbon.

Biodiesel is composed of renewable feedstock such as vegetable oils and animal fat. Compared to biodiesel made from plant oils, biodiesel made from animal tallow has a tendency to crystallise at significantly higher temperatures. Compared to petroleum-based diesel fuel, biodiesel has the ability to reduce exhaust emissions. It is frequently used in automotive, aerospace, industrial, marine, and agriculture industries.

The global fuel segment is expected to expand considerably. Thus, a rise in production of fuel is projected to boost the demand for biodiesel. Manufacturers are focusing on fuel, as the share held by this segment in the biodiesel market is likely to increase.

The majority of the world's biodiesel market is in Europe. It is expected that the market in the region will grow at a CAGR of over 7.3%. The biodiesel industry in Europe is being driven by an increase in demand for the fuel in a variety of sectors, including power generation, agriculture, and transportation. Germany is a key country of the biodiesel market in Europe.
